Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking dapoxetine, and may be taken with or without food, if you have any of the following conditions:

• Kidney problems or severe renal failure
• Liver problems
• Muscle weakness
• Stomach pain
• Seizures
• An irregular heart rhythm
• Seizure (convulsions)

Taking dapoxetine with food may reduce the risk of stomach upset. Taking with a high-fat meal may decrease this risk. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed. If you experience persistent nausea, dizziness, headache, or vomiting within the past 2 to 4 hours, stop taking the medication and contact your doctor right away. A dosage should be adjusted based on your age and medical condition. Food may increase metabolism and cause dapoxetine to work poorly. Taking dapoxetine with a meal that you typically miss while taking this medication may help you remember. If you are taking it regularly, you may need to miss a dose because your physician has not fully diagnosed how you should use it. Your physician will be able to advise you to use dapoxetine even if you start feeling well. Take dapoxetine as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. Your doctor may change your dose at any time. Do not take dapoxetine for more than a few days at a time, even if you are taking it regularly. If you are taking it regularly, it may take several weeks to get the full effect, and your sexual function will not improve as a result of taking dapoxetine.

Possible side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, diarrhea, constipation, and constiputing thirst.

Drug-Drug Interactions:Inform the doctor if you are taking phenothiazine (thioridazine), anti-psychotic (lithium), antibiotic (linezolid, telithromycin, erythromycin, clarithromycin), an amino acid (tryptophan), pain killer (tramadol, ibuprofen, aspirin), anti-HIV (ritonavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir, atazanavir, amprenavir, fosamprenavir), anti-fungal (ketoconazole, itraconazole, fluconazole), anti-depressant (nefazodone), blood thinner (warfarin), impotent agents (sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil), calcium channel blocker (diltiazem, verapamil), anti-emetics (aprepitant), BPH agents and anti-migraine medicines.

Drug-Food Interactions:Do not take St. John’s wort (herbal supplement used to treat depression) while taking Dapoxetine. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice within 24 hours of taking Dapoxetine as it could lead to an increase in the level of Dapoxetine in the body.

Drug-Disease Interactions:Inform the doctor if you have cardiovascular/heart disease, a history of dizziness due to low blood pressure, depression, mania, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, epilepsy/fits, bleeding or blood clotting problems, glaucoma, kidney problems, or moderate to severe liver problems.

Appropriate medical advice is required from the doctor before taking Dapoxetine. Avoid sexual activity for the duration of treatment with this medication. If the patient does not get benefit from the first course of treatment, re-take the wort after the length of treatment. Discontinue treatment if the patient discontinued the treatment. If you are taking physical activity, it may reduce the ability to get an erection.What is Dapoxetine

Dapoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) medication used to treat depression and anxiety by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural hormone (hormone levels) during a sexual encounter. Dapoxetine is believed to work by blocking a hormone called serotonin, which regulates the activity of chemicals in the body that can be responsible for causing anxiety and depression.

Dapoxetine is also used to treat a range of other conditions affecting the balance of serotonin, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Parkinson’s disease. Dapoxetine should not be taken by children or adolescents under the age of 18 as it can cause permanent muscle weakness and potentially affect the brain’s ability to release dopamine and other chemicals that help to improve focus and concentrate.

Is Dapoxetine habit-forming

Dapoxetine is not habit-forming. It should only be taken by patients who are trying to become pregnant or who are breastfeeding.

Contraindications for using Dapoxetine

Dapoxetine is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Dapoxetine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Furthermore, patients who have taken medications for anxiety or depression should be warned about the potential for Dapoxetine to cause an increase in blood pressure.

Patients should be advised to take Dapoxetine only under the supervision of their healthcare provider and do not take it as a substitute for penicillin or other therapies containing Dapoxetine.

The most common side effects of Dapoxetine are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and dizziness. These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own.

Appropriate medical advice before taking Dapoxetine

Dapoxetine should be taken with food as a way to minimize the chances of stomach upset. Patients should be advised to take the medication with food since it can interfere with the absorption of the drug and lead to a higher risk of stomach upset.

Precautions for taking Dapoxetine

Dapoxetine should be used with caution in patients with a history of seizures, a history of allergy to any of the ingredients of this medicine, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or epilepsy/fits, or mania/hypomania/manic-depressive disorder.

Description of Priligy (dapoxetine)

Priligy (dapoxetine) is the first and only prescription medicine licensed to treat Premature Ejaculation (PE). It is from a class of drugs called Selective Serotonin Uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and can help delay ejaculation and increase control. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system that plays a role in transmitting messages between nerve cells. Including those that result in ejaculation. By increasing the availability of serotonin between nerve cells the time taken to ejaculate is increased and control over ejaculation is improve.

How do I take Priligy?

One Priligy tablet should be taken between 1-3 hours of having sex.

The recommended starting dose of Priligy is 30mg no more than once in a 24-hour period.

If the 30mg dose is not effective for you your doctor may increase your dose to 60mg.

The tablet can be taken with or without food and should be swallowed whole with water.

Warnings of Use

This medication is not suitable for you if any of the following apply: You have not been diagnosed with prem mature ejaculation You also have another sexual problem, such as erectile dysfunction You have a history of dizziness from low blood pressure You use recreational drugs such as ecstasy, LSD, narcotics or benzodiazepines You have ever had a mental health problem such as depression, mania (symptoms include feeling over-excited, irritable or not being able to think clearly), bipolar disorder (symptoms include serious mood swings between mania and depression) or schizophrenia (a psychiatric disease) You have epilepsy You have a history of bleeding or blood clotting problems You have kidney problems You have, or are at risk of high pressure in the eye (glaucoma).
